INDIVIDUAL VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

  • Volunteer reading mentors read with elementary students online one-on-one, helping them practice their reading skills and develop a love of reading!

    Time Commitment: 1 hour per week for 12 weeks

    Days of the Week: Varies – usually Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays during the school year; varying times in the summer.

    Location: Virtual

    Special Requirements:

    – Necessary equipment: desktop or laptop computer and internet connection

    – Pass a background check and fingerprint clearance

    – Attend a 1-hour training via Zoom

  • Volunteers help run our free book fairs at Title I schools in Mesa. This includes setting up book displays and helping students choose books. This is a great group volunteer opportunity.

    Time Commitment: 4 hours

    Days of the Week: Weekdays in the morning – usually 8am-12pm – during April and May

    Location: Title I schools in Mesa

    Special Requirements: None

  • Volunteers help pack bags for our book distribution events. This is a great group volunteer opportunity.

    Time Commitment: 2 hours

    Days of the Week: Flexible, evenings and weekend days are possible

    Location: Azura offices

    Special Requirements: None

  • Sort clothing donations, put clothing on the floor for foster/kinship families, Take in donations

    Time Commitment: Minimum 1 day per week, 4 hours

    Days of the Week: Tuesday (AM), Thursday (AM or PM), Friday (PM)

    Location: Helen’s Hope Chest, 126 E University Dr., Mesa, AZ 85201

    Special Requirements: Must be able to lift at least 10 lbs.
